Bakery crawl

Hi friends,

I come to you today with a LOVELY day out in London (weather permitting of course). A Bakery crawl! I have top tips to maximise the fun and reccs on what to try but of course feel free to ignore…

Here are the tips:

  • go with a fellow foodie!!
  • at every stop, get a sweet and savoury option
  • walk as much as possible between stops
  • Stick to water and treat yourself to one drink for the entire crawl

Ready?! Lets go!

Start off at dreamy neighbourhood gem Layla

HIGHLY recommend the bow tie – the filling changes often but always delicious. On this day it was strawberry ripple and BOI was it good! So good.

Next, you’re going to walk down portobello road, taking in all the vintage jewellery stalls as you get closer to Chai guys bakehouse.

This was my favourite stop of the whole crawl. The masala pain suisse and samossant have CHANGED MY LIFE and expectations for pastry.

I tried the pink Kashmiri chai here – it was interesting….I enjoyed it a lot more than their classic chai though – I find that one too spicy for me.

**Bonus stop – Buns from Home

There’s a Buns from home a few minutes from Chai Guys so if the weekend special is something funky like matcha tiramisu or dubai chocolate bun, then GO FOR IT! The usual buns also slap. I do really enjoy the cheesecake bun.

You won’t be full yet! You’ll still have loads of space – we’re only getting started afterall! Next, you’ll make your way to Notting hill gate station but before you get on the tube, stop by Kuro bakery, just across the road!

A super aesthetic bakery known for the sakuro’s – roll croissants! They also have different fun fillings

Now we’re done exploring Notting Hill! Take the central line to Tottenham court road and head to Arome bakery for the famous honey toast – that’s what you see at the top of the picture below. DO NOT GET THE QUICHE – it was weirdly sweet and so strange. Don’t do it. If you did want to try another one of their bakes, i would recommend the Gula Melaka coconut buns. They’re soft, filled with coconut and flavour!

Next stop on this crawl is Chestnut bakery in covent garden!

Who btw have won the title of best croissant in the UK for 2 years in a row! So deffo try a croissant but also DEFO get the honey toast that’s slathered in clotted cream.

You also HAVE to get the tiramisu danish – this was my second favourite thing on this crawl.

I like Chestnut bakery because there’s loads of seating and a wide array of treats!

If you’re feeling like something is missing on this crawl, you’re right – CAKE. Can’t do a bakery crawl without cake! Finish off your food filled day at Crumbs and Doilies.

Get the mini ones so you can try multiple!

That friends, is a GREAT way to spend a day in London! You’ll get to explore the city through it’s food and there’s no better way of exploring than this!

Enjoy the crawl and see you on the next one!
